Dr Tannis Shaw
Dr. Tannis Shaw graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (Toronto) in 1999 and has been running her practice in Campbell River, B.C. since that time. Prior to attending Chiropractic College, she graduated from the University of Victoria with a double major degree of Kinesiology and Psychology with an emphasis on sports injuries.
Chiropractic healthcare offers a natural approach to diagnosing and treating disorders of the muscles, joints and nerves. Most of the aches and pains that we experience (whether they’re sports injuries, workplace injuries, car accidents or problems that seem to have no cause) are easily treated with Chiropractic treatments, which include adjustments and manipulations of the joints, soft tissue therapy to the muscles, and home care (stretches & strengthening exercises). It takes a minimum of 7 years of university and post-university training to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, so you can feel confident that we are well-trained in evaluating and treating musculo-skeletal complaints.
CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
Prescription orthotics are made from a mold of your feet as well as a gait analysis and weight-bearing computer generated analysis of your feet. Approximately 80% of the population will need orthotics in their lifetime due to the fact that most people have feet that over-pronate (which means the arches have lost their function and are flattening out) which also causes ligament instability in the ankles. Orthotics are designed to correct for this common problem, but they are also very useful for many other problems including: plantar fasciitis, bunions, foot/toe/ankle pain, fatigue along the arches, shin splints, back and hip pain, numbness and tingling between the toes, etc.
MASSAGE THERAPY
We have two registered massage therapists (RMTs) on site to address the needs of the clientele that need more attention to their musculature to assist the effectiveness of the Chiropractic treatments. RMTs have attended 3 years of university level training to understand muscle anatomy and physiology, so clients can feel comfortable and confident that they are getting a professional therapeutic massage from the RMTs that work here at Shaw Chiropractic.
